Each Rebated Oils Return is allocated a status to describe its progress through our data servers. When you access the service and have previously submitted a Return, you may see one of the following status descriptions, depending on how far we are through processing your data file.

Uploaded
Your Return data file has been transferred to HMRC servers, but processing has yet to begin.
Validated
We have completed a basic analysis of your Return, and have found no errors in the format of the file you have transferred. If you have uploaded a "Test" Return, then the status of that Return will not progress beyond Validated. Please note that test returns do not fulfil your legal obligation to submit a return.
In Progress
Your Return data has been transferred to our databases, and is now being processed as part of normal HMRC business procedures. You may see this status for only a few minutes, or for a few hours, depending on how busy our systems are.
Complete
All processing on your Return was completed successfully. No further action is required.
Rejected
We have completed processing of your Return, and have found some errors, either in the format of the file you have transferred, or in the data values themselves when they were assessed in business terms. The number of errors found will appear as a link in the "Errors" column, at the end of the row. Click this to see a list of the errors found in the file. Please correct the errors and upload the file again.
Failed
There was a problem with our backend data servers while processing your return. Please try uploading the file again.
